Beautiful mass of water, churning,
I looked deep into the Eye.
On a rocky ledge above the sea
Kissed by both Sun and sky.
The big blue beyond beneath me,
Spiralling in a dance of certain death.
Wider than I could discern,
I feel her salty breath.
Her arms rotating to the beat
Of the waves against the stone.
A crash, a drum, the breaking foam,
It all breaks through to bone.
With the torrent all around me,
I retreat up to the grass.
The whirlpool swirling round below me.
It breaks the sea like glass.
